The printshop is dedicated not only to the rich and varied world of fine art of printmaking
(relief, intaglio, litho and silkscreen), but also to many tangential forms of image making that do not strictly under the printmaking umbrella (collage, and alternative photography to name just two). Over the years the studio has responded to the interests of its artist members by making considerable investments to support silkscreen fabric printing, state of the art photo intaglio/engraving and cyanotype.
The expansive studio is equipped with four etching presses, aquatint airbrush, ferric chloride etching tank, 2 photo etching exposure units, a fully equipped and spacious silkscreen studio. A part of the studio’s mission is to make work time convenient and efficient. To that end, the studio keeps a supply of copper plates and printmaking paper for sale. There is an 11’ table for printing textiles (and the corresponding silkscreens, exposure unit and washout booth) for textile artists as well as those who would like to learn how to print yard goods.
The printmaking studio provides most of what an artist needs including all clean up supplies, small tools, grounds and brayers as well as squeegees, scoop coaters, & photo emulsion. These materials are provided at no additional cost. Flat files drawers and lockable cubbies are also provided to members. Artists are responsible for their paper, plates, and ink. Additional storage space is also available by the month for an additional fee.
The printshop is available for use to members only. Learn more about Membership Here. Private instruction is available for beginners (or those who need a refresher) at $90 per hour.
