I was an artist-in-residence at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California in 2023. I currently make art in Boston, at the Shepherd and Maudsleigh printmaking studio in West Newton, Massachusetts and in my Rumney, NH studio. I am a museum teacher at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston where I get inspired every time I’m there.
Artist Statement
I am a mixed-media artist who mines my personal experiences and familial history and examines the interactions of humans with nature through time and space. I am drawn to stories handed down in various cultures that have helped humans make sense of their place within the natural environment. My process involves research, travel, and learning about world cultures and religions. I make a series of exploratory drawings on a subject of interest to me and successively refine them into a single image. I work in printmaking and painting and layer textures, colors, and images to achieve insights. I strive to make my work authentic, aesthetically pleasing, balanced and informative.
