Artist Statement

Working primarily in silkscreen and woodcut, I use abstract form to explore color, light and pattern, in work that is meant to enliven our optical experience and evoke states of being and feeling, such as harmony, balance, stillness, and joy. I also use typography and both carved and drawn letterforms – incorporated as whole texts or fragments – to create pieces intended to manifest and pay homage to the beauty and resonance of language.
